Medis and Machnet Announce Partnership in Quantification and MR Carotid Imaging

LEIDEN, the Netherlands -- September 30, 2008 -- Leading quantification software provider Medis medical imaging systems bv and specialty MR coil producer Machnet bv today announced their partnership in the field of carotid imaging and image post-processing. Machnet has agreed to distribute Medis' QPlaque® MR software for vessel wall analysis in multi-spectral MR studies of carotid arteries with its phased array carotid coil. The combination of the two products makes it possible for clinicians to identify patients at risk of cerebrovascular events at an earlier stage.

About Machnet's Phased Array Carotid Coil

Machnet's specialty coil for carotid imaging is a bilateral 4-channel phased array coil that is compatible with a range of Siemens, Philips and GE scanners. It enables the acquisition of images of the carotid lumen, the vessel walls and atherosclerotic plaques. With its soft polymer foam coating, Machnet's carotid coil minimizes patient discomfort. Machnet's carotid coils are FDA 510(k) cleared.
