Medis Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary
LEIDEN, the Netherlands -- April 10, 2009 -- Medis, a leading provider of software for measuring in medical images, is celebrating its 20th anniversary as an innovator in quantification software. The company was founded on April 11, 1989, and has since developed into a global enterprise, with more than 4000 installations worldwide and offices in Leiden, the Netherlands and Raleigh, NC, USA.
Medis' flagship product, the high-quality QCA-CMS™ software, now named QAngio® XA, has set a standard in the quantification of studies of the coronary arteries obtained in catheterization labs. "We have been using the Medis QAngio XA software in our core laboratory since 1991," said Alexandra Lansky of the New York-based Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF). "All major interventional device trials with angiographic endpoints have been evaluated using Medis QAngio XA as the standard."
In the two decades following the introduction of QCA-CMS, Medis closely followed technological advances in imaging techniques and offered pioneering quantification solutions to the medical community. In the 1990s it introduced QMass® MR and QFlow® for analyzing cardiovascular MRI studies, establishing a new standard in quantification. Next, QIvus® (formerly known as QCU-CMS™) for the analysis of intravascular ultrasound studies was introduced in 1999.
The latest addition to Medis' product portfolio is QPlaque® MR. This innovative software product enables the analysis of the vessel wall in multi-spectral MR studies of carotid arteries.
"In these twenty years of delivering quality quantification software, we have enabled physicians to integrate post-processing technology into their daily workflow and work more efficiently," said Hans Reiber, president and CEO. "With innovation at the heart of our company and our continuous focus on new technological developments, we are well-positioned to take quantification a step further."
