New QPlaque MR Quantification Software Analyzes Vessel Wall in Atherosclerotic Carotid Arteries
LEIDEN, the Netherlands -- November 24, 2007 -- With growing numbers of atherosclerosis patients, the timely assessment of vessel wall remodeling and plaque composition has become ever more important.
Medis’ new quantification software QPlaque® MR can help give insight into the overall vessel wall condition of atherosclerosis patients. It enables cardiologists and radiologists to measure thickness, area and volume of the diseased vessel walls and vessel wall components, such as plaques. These results can aid medical specialists in determining whether a patient's condition is stable or unstable, and enable them to treat patients in time.
QPlaque MR is a software solution for the post-processing of multi-spectral MR images. It provides tools for semi-automatically determining the boundaries of the vessel and the lumen, calculating vessel wall and plaque volumes, and measuring the thickness of the vessel wall and the fibrous cap. QPlaque MR also provides smart editing tools, and automatic registration of various MR sequences.
QPlaque MR is expected to be available on the US market and in other countries worldwide in Q1, 2008. The product will be launched at the RSNA 2007.
