Proximal aorta longitudinal strain

Andrea Guala, MD and co-authors under the guidance of Artur Evangelista,MD from Dept of Cardiology, Hospital Universitari Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, Spain, published paper in Eur Heart J about proximal aorta longitudinal strain in 117 Marfan syndrome patients. The Medis QFlow software was used to calculate the aortic root growth analysis. The aorta longitudinal strain, the aorta distensibility and the aorta circumferential strain were derived from feature tracking principles. They concluded that the proximal aorta longitudinal strain is independently related to the aortic root dilation rate and aortic events in addition to aortic diameter, clinical risk factors, and demographics characteristics in Marfan syndrome.
